Jandiroba cruises past mismatched Herrig with R1 Sub
Virna Jandiroba highlights UFC 252 Prelims with early 1:44 armbar on Felice Herrig
Felice Herrig (14-8) entered this bout with the weight of back to back losses looming large. Herrig was breezing on a four fight win streak before hitting this two fight skid with losses to Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Michelle Waterson.
Herrig will have her work cut out for her in Brazilian submission machine Virna Jandiroba (15-1). Jandiroba’s single loss came in her UFC debut to Carla Esparza, whom Herrig also shares a loss to.
Jandiroba wasted no time in shooting for the takedown and securing the top position. Herrig offered only sparse attacks from her back as was smothered by Jandiroba moving like running water in search of cracks to fill. After flirting with the Rear Naked Choke Jandiroba effortlessly transitioned into an arm bar finish in what felt like an clear mismatch from the beginning.
Virna Jandiroba sustained no damage at all and is ready to get right back in the octagon. With this current climate of quick turnarounds and quarantine bubbles, don’t be surprised to see Jandiroba back before the end of the year.
