Brian Ortega withdraws from UFC Busan with partial ACL tear
UFC Featherweight contender Brian Ortega has been forced to withdraw from his Dec 21st match up with Chan Sung Jung in Busan, South Korea. He has sustained a partial ACL tear in training and will reportedly be out for 2-3 months as he rehabilitates the injury.
He had considered pushing on a fighting through the injury, but his doctors urged him otherwise as he could risk a full rupture that would sideline him potentially up to a year instead of a few months.
This comes as a significant set back for the promotion’s year end card in Korea, with only two weeks notice to prepare and make weight against one of the divisions toughest opponents Korean Zombie at home. Below is a screen capture of a social media statement from Ortega. Check back with us as this story develops and hopefully a replacement opponent is found for the main event.
